. Commend Gov AbdulRazaq over Kwara royal stools elevation

The Omupo Descendants Union has urged the Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazag, to elevate its royal father, Olomu of Omupo, to a First-Class status.

The union, which said this in a statement sent to NOP NIGERIA, rejoiced with the various royal stools in the state which were already elevated to various levels recently by the Kwara State’ government.

The statement signed by Dr. Monisoye Afolabi, National President; and Chief Mufutau Adisa Lawal, Eruwe of Omupo land, reads; “We particularly commend His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for recognizing the critical role of traditional rulers in his strive to ensure effective governance in the state and his courage to take this bold step of appreciating and empowering the traditional system to discharge its enormous responsibility.

“With these in mind, we believe the Stool of Olomu of Omupo is preeminently qualified for elevation to First Class Status as His Excellency continues to strengthen governance structure in Kwara State.
We are making appeal to His Excellency for this elevation based on several solid and verifiable factors including historical antecedents of the stool of Olomu, pre colonial and current administrative and political stature of Omupo, prolonged tenure on Second Class position,
among others.

“Indeed, the Olomu of Omupo has been discharging the required responsibilities since 1954 under the Native Authority System, as Omupo was and has been the headquarters of the Omupo District.

“The stool of Olomu of Omupo has been very conscious of its pivotal role in the Omupo
constituency and has therefore been in the forefront supporting and ensuring the achievement of major key programme objectives of the government in various sectors over the past six years.

“In health sector, the Cottage hospital in the constituency headquarters – Ormupo Cottage Hospital, for two year running (2024 and 2025) has won the Provider of the Year Award of the Kwara Health Insurance Agency as the leading facility in Kwara State that has been helping the Kwara State Government to achieve the critical goal of providing access to affordable healthcare to the citizens through the Kwara State Health Insurance Scheme.

“We therefore humbly request the approval of His Excellency Mallam AbdulRahman Abdul Razag for the upgrade the stool of Olomu of Omupo to the First-Class status that is consistent with and befitting of the historical, traditional and political trajectory of the position.”
