Amnesty International

international human rights organisation, Amnesty International, has raised the alarm over a sharp rise in abductions across northern Nigeria, saying at least 1,100 people were kidnapped within three months.

In a post shared on its official X account on Monday, the organisation said the incidents occurred between January and April 2026, targeting rural communities and Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps.

Amnesty International called on President Bola Tinubu and his administration to take urgent action to address the worsening security situation.

It said, “President Bola Tinubu and his government must urgently address the country’s horrifying spate of abductions targeting rural communities and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the northern part of the country as at least 1,100 people have been abducted in three months.”
