The Plateau State Advisory Council on Interreligious Harmony has condemned the attack on Angwan Rukuba community as “barbaric” and an “act of terrorism”.
“This heinous act of inhumanity… is disturbing and unacceptable,” said Rev. Pandang Yamsat and HRH Muhammad Sambo-Haruna II, Co-Chairmen of the council.
The council commends Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s swift response and urged the government to treat perpetrators as terrorists.
They also praised security operatives for their efforts to bring culprits to justice.
The council calls on citizens to resist attempts to divide Christians and Muslims, and urges youth and clerics to avoid spreading inciting messages on social media.
DAILYPOST recalls that last Sunday, gunmen attacked the community and killed 28 persons, living many others injured.
The attack has created tension across some communities within Jos metropolis, which has led to the evacuation of University of Jos students from their hostels.
