‘There Is No Automatic Ticket’ – Yilwatda Tells APC National Assembly Members

Nentawe Yilwatda APC Chairman

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that the party is not considering automatic tickets for National Assembly members ahead of the 2027 elections.

NOP NIGERIA reports that Yilwatda made this clarification during a media chat in Abuja.

Yilwatda noted that both the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act clearly define how candidates must emerge.

He said, “There is no automatic ticket in our constitution. The party cannot promise an automatic ticket.

“There’s no automatic ticket in our constitution. The constitution of the party does not provide for automatic tickets, and the party cannot wishfully promise automatic ticket to anyone.

“The Electoral Act also does not provide for automatic ticket. It says all primaries must be either by consensus or by direct primaries.”

The APC chairmanmaintained that all aspirants within the party would be subjected to the same process without exception, adding that performance would be a deciding factor for those seeking re-election.

He stated, “All members of our party will undergo the same process. We will use the Electoral Act, our party guidelines, and constitution to get people to participate in primaries.

“The people and party members will judge those who have performed very well.”
