A Bayelsa State woman has cried out after allegedly losing ₦100,000 due to a mistaken bank transfer involving UBA, sparking widespread reactions online and renewed concerns over banking dispute resolution in Nigeria.

According to her account, she mistakenly sent the money to an unknown account and immediately reported the issue at a UBA branch. She said bank officials confirmed the funds had already been credited to the recipient.

She further explained that she was told the receiving account had been inactive for a long time and was advised to obtain a court order to attempt recovery.

After securing the court order and returning to the bank, she alleged she was informed that nothing could be done as the funds had already been moved out of the account.

The incident quickly went viral, drawing strong reactions from Nigerians across social media.

One user, @Dat_Irregular_EdoGuy, wrote: “This isn’t customer service, it’s customer suffering.”

Another user, @JadonTheLegend, reacted emotionally: “Everything about Nigeria traumatized me.”

@Youngpappi__ commented: “These banks have started their criminalities again. I have experienced something like this before. The bank doesn’t want to do their job.”

However, not all reactions blamed the bank. @Parrot_MediaNG said: “If we go leave sentiment aside the bank is not at fault.”

Others focused on procedural issues, with @siyabonga21 stating: “UBA system failed hard. Demand for accountability not just more procedures.”
