Tinubu, Mitchell, Mahama, Danjuma to grace Taraba fishing festival

The Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickson Thomas Mitchell, President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama and General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma  (rtd.) is expected to grace Taraba state Nwonyo fishing festival slated for Friday April 17, 2026.

The former Commissioner of Information and Re-orientation and chairman of the sub publicity committee, Danjuma Adamu, who stated this Monday at a press conference in Jalingo said government has perfected all plans  to host foreign dignitaries at the  upcoming annual traditional Nwonyo Fishing Festival.

He highlighted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the occasion.

He added that Governor Agbu Kefas approved 17th and 18th of April 2026 for the Nwonyo Annual Traditional Fishing event.

“The motive is part of the deliberate efforts of Agbu Kefas-led administration to showcase, not only the cultural heritage of the people, but to expose the rich tourism potential of Taraba State to the outside world.

“The event would commence on Friday with the Jukun Youth Day at 9:00 am.

“The event marking the Youth Day will be held at the Aku Uka Palace in Wukari. Various cultural activities will be displayed to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Jukun. There will be a Cultural March Pass and Procession”.
