Two members of the House of Representatives from Yobe State, Engr. Muhammad Buba Kajere and Hassan Kaikaku Jakduwa, have resigned their membership of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Kajere represents the Fika/Fune Federal Constituency, while Jakduwa represents the Bade/Jakusko Federal Constituency in the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

In a resignation letter he signed, Kajere said his decision followed careful consideration of his personal convictions and political future.

According to him, the unresolved internal crisis within the PDP at the national level influenced his decision to step down from the party.

“I believe it is in my best interest to step aside from the party at this time in view of the unresolved internal crisis of the party at the National level,” he said.

Similarly, Jakduwa said his resignation came after a thorough evaluation of the current political realities and his commitment to serving his constituents more effectively.

He emphasised that his political decisions have always been driven by the desire to promote the welfare and development of his people.

Jakduwa said, “Politics, to me, has always been about service, responsibility and the collective progress of our people.

“At every step, my priority remains the welfare, unity and development of our communities.”

He added, “I firmly believe that this decision will position me to continue that service with greater focus and effectiveness.”

The lawmakers, however, did not disclose the political parties they intend to join after leaving the PDP.

Their resignations come amid ongoing political realignments and internal disputes within several opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
