The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in partnership with the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN), has completed the training of 72 Nigerians in Solar Panel Installation and Maintenance as part of efforts to close the skills gap in Nigeria’s power sector.
The three-week Human Capital Development programme was held in Lagos and focused on equipping participants with practical and industry-relevant skills for opportunities within the renewable energy and power value chain.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Director, Capacity Building, NCDMB, represented by Senior Monitoring Officer, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), Mr. Ibrahim Sule, commended NAPTIN for successfully partnering with the Board to deliver the training.
He stated that the certification obtained by the trainees would improve their employability and competitiveness in the industry.
According to him, the programme aligns with the Nigerian Content policy by ensuring that Nigerians are equipped with the technical competence needed to compete favourably within the sector.
He also noted that the initiative goes beyond classroom training, as beneficiaries would receive startup kits, uniforms, and safety gear to support their transition into the workforce and encourage entrepreneurship within the renewable energy space.
Earlier, the Director General of NAPTIN, Alhaji Bolaji Nagode, thanked NCDMB for its continued investment in human capital development.
Nagode said practical and industry-standard training remains critical to economic growth, sustainability, and the development of local technical capacity in the country’s energy sector.
Also speaking, the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, highlighted the importance of collaboration between government agencies in driving youth empowerment and skills development.
He encouraged the trainees to maximise the opportunity and apply their newly acquired skills effectively.
