UK-based Quantity Surveyor, Victor Femi Ekunyan, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Ekunyan, who hails from Ise-Orun Local Government Area of Ekiti State, made the declaration on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti, where he unveiled a 7-point strategic agenda aimed at repositioning Nigeria.
He pledged to raise the national minimum wage to ₦150,000 if elected, while tackling the country’s socio-economic challenges through sustainable development, institutional reforms, and improved governance.
Key highlights of his agenda include:
Creation of 30 million jobs
Free and compulsory education up to tertiary level
Free health services nationwide
Establishment of 20,000 farm hubs across the country with storage, processing, and packaging facilities to boost food security
On insecurity, Ekunyan vowed to tackle banditry and other criminalities within 24 hours of assuming office.
He promised to recruit 3 million additional security personnel to strengthen the nation’s security architecture, citing the current shortfall of only about 500,000 personnel for over 200 million Nigerians.
He attributed worsening security to alleged collaboration between insiders and criminal elements, stressing the need for decisive leadership and better coordination among security agencies.
The aspirant also outlined plans for massive infrastructure development, including an inter-state rail network, improved roads, stable electricity, and enhanced telecommunications.
Reacting to the declaration, PDP South-West Publicity Secretary, Sanya Atofarati, said the party remains strong and is actively working to resolve internal issues ahead of the 2027 elections.
“The PDP is alive and bouncing back. Regardless of the challenges, we remain trusted and tested by Nigerians,” Atofarati said.
