President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has sharply criticized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing him as a “serial defector” similar to Peter Obi and a long-time aspirant for the presidency.
Onanuga made the remark on X (formerly Twitter) while reacting to a short documentary about Atiku. He wrote: “A short documentary on Atiku Abubakar, a serial defector like Peter Obi, and a veteran presidential candidate.”
Atiku has indeed been eyeing the presidency since 1993, contesting multiple times across different parties over the decades.
The Presidency’s comment comes amid ongoing political maneuvering ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This latest jab highlights the ruling APC’s strategy of painting key opposition figures like Atiku and Obi as unreliable political wanderers rather than serious contenders.
