Operatives of the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards (CPG) have arrested eight persons suspected of aiding terrorists in Gusau.

The commandant of the CPG, retired AIG Muhammad Shehu Dalijan, stated this while parading the suspects before journalists at the CPG headquarters in Gusau, Wednesday.

He said the CPG successfully intercepted a vehicle conveying three brand-new motorcycles, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), and cash totaling N13,500,000 million allegedly being taken to terrorists in Bindin, a community in Maru local government area.

He added that 98 sticks of dynamite, 25 detonators, and 25 coils were also recovered from the suspects.

The items, he said, are believed to have been meant for the terrorists in exchange for gold.

“The exhibits are suspected to be planted along the roads to kill security personnel,” Dalijan said.

He added that after preliminary investigation, the suspects will be handed over to the police for proper legal action.

The commandant vowed that the CPG will work day and night to ensure “terrorists have no hiding place in the state.”
