The Oyo State Fire Service has rescued a 75-year-old man who fell into a deep well at Igbo Ologun along Irawo Road in Atisbo Local Government Area of the state.
The Chairman of the Fire Services Agency and Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Fire Service Reform, Moroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday.
He said the incident occurred on Monday, May 18, when the fire service received a distress call around 6:26 pm that a man had fallen into a well while attempting to recover a fetching bucket.
According to him, a rescue team led by CFS Ayegbokiki Samuel was immediately deployed to the scene and carried out the operation using necessary equipment.
“The victim was rescued alive and handed over to a team of policemen from Saki Divisional Headquarters led by ASP Yusuf Olarinoye,” the statement read.
He advised residents to always ensure wells are properly covered when not in use and to promptly call emergency services in distress situations, providing accurate location details.
