According to a report by Vanguard on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, after the abduction of kids in Ahoro-Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area, the Oyo State Police Command disclosed how suspected informants supported the kidnappers before and after the operation.…....
Investigators believe some people may have called the armed group that carried out the attack. These contacts are being reviewed to see how the crooks planned and executed the incident.
Security officials claimed that the suspects helped the attackers navigate tough terrain, including woodland pathways in a national park used for escape and hiding.
Police claimed call records and intercepted conversations showed discussions about safe passageways and hideouts, which may have helped the armed group move victims away from the area without suspicion.
At least six people have been arrested since the inquiry broke. The accused are in custody and cooperating with police throughout interrogation.
The arrests were made during coordinated security operations across Oyo State, according to Police Public Relations Officer CSP Olayinka Ayanlade.
Early investigations suggest that several jailed detainees provided logistical information to the assailants, facilitating the kidnapping and executions.
Ayanlade added that security analysts are investigating the suspects’ communication with the armed group to find further accomplices and discover the attack’s network.
He said some of the communications and calls under scrutiny included travel routes via forested regions and kidnappers’ temporary hideouts.
The police spokesperson said the Nigerian Army, Police Force, NSCDC, Amotekun, and Agro-Rangers operatives collaborated to make the arrests.
Using intelligence obtained over time, security agents tracked and apprehended the individuals in several locations, he said.
Residents have been told that authorities are searching for and arresting remaining criminal organization members.
They stressed that all those involved in the violent incident will be prosecuted.
The attack, which killed two instructors and a motorbike rider and abducted numerous pupils last Friday, has raised concerns among Oriire and adjacent villages, who want more security.
