A woman who was abducted in Kasuwan Magani area of Kaduna state has regained her freedom after spending five months in captivity, with medical examinations confirming that she is pregnant.

The development was disclosed by former media aide to late Kaduna state governor, Patrick Yakowa, Mr Reuben Buhari, in a post shared on his verified Facebook page.

According to Buhari, the victim was among four persons kidnapped when armed men attacked a residence where she had been caring for her seriously ill mother.

He stated that the abductors took the victims into the forest, where they were held for about five months under difficult conditions before ransom was reportedly paid, leading to their release two days ago.

Buhari explained that the woman was taken to a hospital immediately after regaining freedom for urgent medical care.

He said doctors later confirmed that she was pregnant during examination, allegedly as a result of sexual abuse suffered while in captivity.

According to him, the victim arrived the hospital in a weak condition and required urgent treatment, including blood transfusion, before further medical procedures could be considered.

He added that she also endured severe physical hardship during the period in captivity, including prolonged trekking without footwear, which reportedly left her feet swollen and painful.

Buhari described the ordeal as traumatic, noting that many of the experiences faced by women in captivity are often too distressing to fully narrate.

The incident has again drawn attention to the growing security concerns in parts of Kaduna State and the plight of kidnapping victims.
