Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has cautioned Nigerians against premature celebrations following the Supreme Court’s affirmation of David Mark as leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), warning that the real political contest is still ahead.
In a statement reacting to the decision of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Atiku described the ruling as both a validation of the party’s leadership and a reminder that more work lies ahead as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify.
He stressed that the legal victory should not lead to complacency, noting that the broader mission of rebuilding the country remains ongoing.
“This victory belongs to Nigerians who have refused to give up on their future,” he said, adding that the journey toward meaningful change is far from complete.
Atiku used the moment to rally supporters, urging them to stay committed as political activities shift from courtroom battles to mobilisation and strategy.
He emphasised the need for sustained vigilance, stating that the struggle for a better Nigeria requires continuous effort and unity among stakeholders.
The ruling is expected to stabilise the ADC after months of internal disputes, allowing the party to refocus on alliances, grassroots mobilisation, and positioning ahead of the next general elections.
