According to a video posted on the official YouTube channel of Arise News on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, NDC Chieftain, Asukewe Ikoawaji, said the Nigeria Democratic Congress has adopted a power-sharing arrangement aimed at promoting fairness and unity ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking during an interview, Ikoawaji explained that the party believes in balancing political leadership between the North and the South to strengthen national stability and reduce tension over power struggles. He noted that the decision was part of the party’s commitment to equity, justice, and inclusiveness within the Nigerian political system.
While discussing the party’s zoning arrangement, he said, “After one term, power will return to the North, while the South waits. When the North finishes, it will come back again.”
