APC Presidential primary: Oyetola declares Tinubu winner in Osun, hails large turnout

The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Saturday commended the large turnout of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the party’s presidential primary in Osun.

Former Governor Oyetola, who served as the Returning Officer for the primary, described the turnout as impressive and historic.

“This impressive turnout is not only historic but also a resounding affirmation of the confidence reposed by members of our party in the leadership, vision and Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

“It reflects the deep trust and abiding belief of our members in the direction of our great party and in the transformative leadership currently being provided at the national level,” he said.

Presenting the results at the collation centre in Osogbo, Oyetola said that 109,806 party members were digitally registered for the primary in the state.

He added that 100,880 members were accredited for the exercise.

According to him, President Tinubu polled 100,880 votes, while his opponent, Stanley Osayamen Osifo, scored zero votes.

“By the powers vested in me as the Collation Officer for Osun State, I hereby declare His Excellency, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the winner of the APC presidential primary election in the state,” he said.

Oyetola commended the party leadership at all levels, members of the electoral committee, polling officials, security agencies, and youth and women groups for ensuring the smooth, transparent, credible and hitch-free conduct of the exercise across the state.

“The peaceful conduct witnessed across the 30 Local Government Areas, including the Ife East Area Office, is a testament to the enduring strength and unity of our party.

“Today’s exercise has once again demonstrated that the APC remains a party firmly rooted in democratic values, internal cohesion, transparency and progressive governance,” he said.

He urged party members to remain steadfast, united and committed to the collective task ahead.

“The journey ahead requires sacrifice, unity of purpose and sustained mobilisation as we work together towards another decisive electoral victory for our great party, beginning with the forthcoming governorship election on August 15.

“Let us continue to uphold the ideals of our party and remain resolute in our commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous and united Nigeria,” he said.
