Speaking with journalists after the exercise, Sani expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State for their support.

“There is no better representation of the people of Kaduna State than me being their lawmaker and Uba Sani being the governor,” he said.

The former senator also thanked his supporters for giving him another opportunity to represent them and commended Yerima for stepping down from the race.

He urged all aspirants to unite and work for the success of the APC in the forthcoming elections.

Sani pledged to focus on addressing poverty, unemployment, and other national challenges through effective representation and attracting more federal projects to the constituency.

Meanwhile, Katung emerged winner of the APC Kaduna South Senatorial District primary election after defeating former Senator Danjuma Laah and Michael Ayuba.

Announcing the results at the collation centre in Jema’a Local Government Area, the Returning Officer, Prof. John Laah of the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, described the exercise as peaceful, transparent, and credible.

According to him, Katung polled 7,453 votes to defeat Laah, who scored 1,370 votes, while Auta secured 878 votes.

Reacting to the outcome, the Chairman of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, Joseph Bege Gaiya, described the result as a reflection of the wishes of the grassroots and a demonstration of the party’s internal democracy.

Gaiya expressed confidence that the APC would secure overwhelming victories for Governor Sani, Katung, and other party candidates in the 2027 general election.

He also called on aggrieved aspirants to embrace reconciliation and party unity for the progress of the party.
