APC Women Protest, Reject N1000 Payment For Primary Election Participation (Video)

Some women supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have expressed anger and disappointment over what they described as poor treatment, alleging that they were paid only N1,000 for participating in a primary election.…....

The women, who spoke in Hausa in a viral video, lamented the worsening economic hardship in the country and warned party leaders that such actions could lead to failure in future general elections if urgent corrections are not made.

In the video, the women were seen voicing their frustrations collectively, insisting that “N1,000 election is not an election.”

One of the women was heard saying, “We will not accept N1,000 election.”

The woman further criticised party leaders for what she described as insensitivity to the suffering of ordinary women and youths struggling with rising transportation costs and economic hardship.

“Honestly, truth be told, even if they call us right now to come out from our houses and give us N1,000, it is not an election,” she said.

“Women are suffering a lot, yet some people are saying they will conduct N1,000 election. Where corrections need to be made, they should be made.

“Whoever wants to come can come. These young women cannot accept just N1,000. Some of them even came here on motorcycles. The transport fare alone is close to N1,000, so N1,000 election cannot work.”

The woman also noted that the amount given to some participants was later reduced even further.

“Surprisingly, they have now returned to giving only N600 each,” she added.

The women further called on APC leaders to reflect deeply on the implications of their actions, warning that failure to address the grievances of party supporters at the grassroots level could negatively affect the party’s chances in general elections.

“People should think carefully, especially the leaders. Is this being done for progress or for backwardness?” the woman asked in the video.
