Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has congratulated Arsenal on winning the Premier League title, describing the achievement as a product of resilience, discipline, strategic leadership and long-term vision.

In a statement released on Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku praised the club’s players, coaching staff and fans worldwide for what he called a remarkable accomplishment.

He noted that Arsenal’s rise to the top of English football was not by chance but the result of years of careful rebuilding, planning and consistency.

The former presidential candidate drew a comparison between Arsenal’s transformation under a long-term footballing philosophy and his own economic and political ideals for Nigeria, emphasising the need for institutional reforms and youth development.

He stated that just as Arsenal invested in young talent and stuck to a clear vision, Nigeria must do the same by investing in its people and committing to a coherent economic strategy.

Atiku also acknowledged the loyalty of Nigerian Arsenal supporters over the years, particularly through difficult trophyless periods, describing their unwavering support as a reflection of the resilient Nigerian spirit.

He used the occasion to encourage Nigerians not to lose faith in the country’s future, saying that meaningful change requires patience and consistency.

He also referenced the 2027 elections, expressing hope that it could mark the beginning of a brighter and more inclusive chapter for the nation.

The former vice president concluded by urging Arsenal to now set their sights on winning the UEFA Champions League, expressing confidence that the same determination that delivered the Premier League title could secure a historic double.
