Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has rejected the outcome of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election, raising concerns over alleged irregularities in the conduct of the exercise.
Amaechi, one of the leading aspirants in the race, faulted the credibility of the process shortly after the announcement of results from the party’s national collation centre. He described the exercise as lacking transparency and insisted that the outcome did not reflect the will of party delegates.
In the contested primary, senior opposition figure Atiku Abubakar emerged as a leading contender according to results released across several states during the collation process.
However, Amaechi’s camp has strongly pushed back against the results, alleging widespread irregularities, procedural breaches, and inconsistencies in delegate accreditation in some states. Supporters of the former minister claim that the process was compromised and called for a review of the entire exercise.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC), African Democratic Congress, has yet to issue an official comprehensive response to Amaechi’s rejection, as internal party discussions continue regarding the conduct and final validation of the primary election results.
Party insiders say tensions remain high as aspirants await the final position of the party leadership on disputed areas and reported complaints from participating delegates.
