Lagos to shut down Iddo bridge temporarily

The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary closure of Iddo Bridge in the Ijora area of Apapa Local Government Area.

This is due to rehabilitation works on the facility.

The announcement was contained in a statement signed by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, on Tuesday.

The government said the Federal Ministry of Works will carry out the installation of heavy steel bridge beams as part of the ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction of the bridge.

It stated that the operation would require a temporary closure of the bridge at scheduled periods to ensure safety during the installation process.

According to the statement, “The entire section of Iddo Bridge will be temporarily closed to vehicular movement during the periods stated above to ensure the safe installation of the steel beams on the bridge.”

The operation is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., and Sunday, June 21, 2026, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
