Bandits Were Flogging Us With Sticks And Took Us To A Hill, I Used My Last Breath To Climb It

Hon. Chinedu Nsofor has spoken out about the horrific ordeal he and other hostages endured at the hands of bandits on their way back to Abuja for a screening, detailing the treacherous terrain and terrible conditions through which they were dragged.…....

He spoke about how the ordeal left him emotionally and physically drained during an interview with Lucky Udu Experience. He said that the victims’ harrowing ordeal was exacerbated by the kidnappers’ cruel treatment and the challenging ascent.

They dragged us to the peak of a hill while they whipped us with whips and machetes as we ran. Climbing that slope required every breath I had left. I started to pass out from lack of oxygen, so my fellow captives had to help me stand up. Climbing that slope required every ounce of energy I could muster. It resembled a mountain in appearance. They had already requested that we reveal all of our belongings by the time we reached the peak of the mountain.

According to Nsofor, the encouragement he received from other victims got him through the worst of it. Many of them kept pushing forward, hoping for safety and rescue, despite the fact that they were terrified and unsure of what the future held.

He claimed that this incidence added fuel to the fire of rising insecurity among Nigerians as they travel throughout the nation, particularly on the main thoroughfares that enter the Federal Capital Territory.
