All Progressives Congress has released the names of 47 senatorial aspirants disqualified from participating in its Senate primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party disclosed the development in a statement issued on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka. According to the APC, the screening exercise was conducted by designated party committees in line with established guidelines and internal procedures.
Among the high-profile aspirants denied clearance is former Bayelsa East senator Ben Murray-Bruce. Another Bayelsa East aspirant, Benson Agadaga, was also excluded from the primary process. The party’s screening outcome affected aspirants across multiple states and senatorial districts nationwide.
Rivers State recorded one of the highest numbers of disqualified aspirants, with four contenders from Rivers West failing to secure clearance. Similarly, Zamfara State featured prominently, with seven aspirants from its Central, North and West senatorial zones reportedly unable to pass the screening stage.
The ruling party, however, did not state the reasons behind the disqualifications or provide details of the criteria used in denying clearance to the affected aspirants. The development comes days after the APC also published the names of House of Representatives aspirants who were disqualified from contesting in the party’s primaries across several states.
