Bola Tinubu Has Been My Senior Brother And Good Friend Up Till Now–Kwankwaso

According to a report by The Sun on Thursday, May 21, 2026, former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso has dismissed allegations suggesting that he is secretly working for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.…....

He rejected the claims, stating that they are part of ongoing political rumours targeted at him since his association with the New Nigeria People’s Party.

Kwankwaso made the clarification during an interview on Global TV on Wednesday night, where he addressed growing political speculations surrounding his activities and relationships within Nigeria’s political space.

He stated that certain individuals have consistently circulated misleading narratives about his political intentions, particularly since his involvement with the NNPP.

The allegations were earlier made by Sanusi Bature, who serves as spokesperson to the Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.

In his remarks, Bature claimed that Kwankwaso, who was once a prominent leader within the NNPP, had been indirectly supporting President Bola Tinubu’s political ambitions.

He also suggested that Kwankwaso played a role in supporting Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election cycle and had recently attempted to secure a direct meeting with the president, which reportedly did not take place.

These claims circulated within political discussions, generating further debate about Kwankwaso’s perceived alliances and political alignment.

The assertions focused largely on whether his past political interactions had any bearing on the current administration and its electoral strategies ahead of future contests.

In response to the allegations, Kwankwaso firmly denied any form of political collaboration with President Tinubu.

He described the claims as unfounded and insisted that individuals who believe such narratives lack proper understanding of political dynamics.

He maintained that his political path remains independent and distinct from that of the current administration.

Kwankwaso further emphasized that his relationship with President Tinubu is based on long-standing personal familiarity rather than political alignment.

He explained that although there is mutual respect between them, both leaders operate on separate ideological and political directions, with no merging of interests or political structures.

He also reiterated that his focus remains on his own political engagements and that attempts to link him with opposing political agendas are misleading.
