Applications are now open for the IHS Project Empower Calabar 2026 Free Training Programme, a skills acquisition and empowerment initiative designed to equip young people in Cross River State with practical vocational skills, business support, and starter equipment.
The programme, organised under IHS Towers’ empowerment initiative and implemented by FSD, is aimed at helping participants gain employable skills and improve their chances of financial independence through hands-on training and mentorship.
Selected applicants will undergo a three-week practical training programme in Calabar. The training will feature facilitators, mentors, and consultants who will guide participants through practical sessions in their chosen fields.
Participants will also receive light meals throughout the training period, while attendance during classes is compulsory. The organisers added that the programme is certified and comes with additional support opportunities for trainees after completion.
The training areas available for the 2026 edition include Solar Installations, Electronics Repair Work, Make Up and Gele Tying, as well as Toiletries Production, covering products such as liquid soap, bleach, balm, cream, and related items.
IHS stated that the programme is designed not only to teach vocational skills but also to support beneficiaries with business empowerment, starter equipment, and ongoing support toward financial independence after training.
The organisers noted that FSD empowerment programmes have reportedly achieved over 90 percent empowerment outcomes for trainees over the past twenty years.
Applicants between the ages of 18 and 35 years are eligible to apply, especially young persons who are available to work immediately after completing the training.
The admission process will include a screening exercise for applicants, while communication regarding interviews and other updates will be sent strictly through email.
Applications for the programme will close on May 20, 2026.
