A group of concerned citizens from Somolu Constituency I has appealed to the Lagos State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Apostle Cornelius Ojelabi, to ensure fairness and balance in the allocation of elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In an open letter signed by Rasaki Aro, the group expressed concerns over what it described as the need for equitable representation among political interests within the constituency.
The letter noted that if the political group associated with Hon. Kolade Alabi is allotted the House of Representatives ticket, then the House of Assembly ticket should be given to the group led by Hon. Dullar.
According to the concerned citizens, such an arrangement would promote unity, inclusiveness, and a sense of belonging among party members. They warned that the 2027 elections could be highly competitive and urged the party leadership not to underestimate the importance of balancing interests within the constituency.
The group further stated that fair distribution of political opportunities would strengthen the APC’s grassroots support and help reassure members that the party remains committed to justice and internal democracy rather than a winner-takes-all approach.
They expressed optimism that the party leadership would give their appeal due consideration and respond favourably in the interest of party cohesion and electoral success.
The open letter reads in part: “we Concerns citizens of Somolu Constituency 1, we advise you not to give one group the House of Representatives and the House of Assembly.
“For equity and balance of votes in the coming election ’27, since Hon. Kolade Alabi’s group has been given the House of Representatives, we advise Honourable Dullar’s group should be given the House of Assembly.
“This coming election will be too tough, and we don’t want you to overlook it.
“We can talk to our people and tell them that our party is not winner-take-all. Hope to hear a favourable response from you.”
