Rivers State Police Command said it has commenced joint patrol, along with sister security agencies, to combat kidnapping, cultism and other violent crimes in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Blessing Agabe disclosed this in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Saturday.
Agabe explained that the collaboration include the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force, Department of State Services and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.
He stated that the initiative was expected to enhance safety and public order in the state.
Agabe added that the initiative was launched during a high-level meeting with service commanders at the Command Headquarters in Port Harcourt.
According to her, the engagement is aimed at deepening inter-agency cooperation and ensuring sustained enforcement of law and order across the state.
“The meeting underscores the police’s commitment to build a robust security architecture through collaboration with sister agencies,” she stated.
She noted that the agencies had agreed on a unified operational framework to combat crime and criminality.
Agabe disclosed that the collaboration would result in the immediate deployment of intensive joint patrols across the state.
“This partnership merges our strength to create a formidable front against crimes, such as cultism and kidnapping.
“The public will witness increased security presence through coordinated patrols designed to reassure them and deter criminal elements,” she stated.
She added that the joint operations would leverage intelligence sharing, personnel and resources to improve security outcomes.
She emphasised that the primary objective of the initiative was the protection of lives, property and fundamental human rights.
“There is zero tolerance for harassment, intimidation or misconduct.
“Personnel are mandated to operate with professionalism and respect for citizens,” she explained.
The police spokesperson assured the residents that the partnership was a long-term commitment to peace and stability.
“We are determined to make Rivers a safe, vibrant and conducive environment for business and social activities to thrive,” she added.
Agabe urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to ensure effective crime prevention in the state. (NAN)
