A Nigerian man has sparked reactions online after sharing his experience with officials of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, whom he accused of hypocrisy and extortion after allegedly arresting him for public urination.
According to the man, he was apprehended at the Iyana Oba underbridge in Lagos for allegedly urinating in public and was subsequently locked inside a Black Maria vehicle operated by the officials.
He claimed the officials demanded ₦25,000 before he could regain his freedom.
The man further alleged that while he and others were still inside the vehicle, they reportedly witnessed the same environmental officials alongside officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) urinating at the exact same spot where he was arrested.
The incident has since generated widespread reactions on social media, with many Nigerians criticizing what they described as selective enforcement of laws and abuse of authority.
