‎The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, has issued a strong warning to telecom operators over persistent poor network services, insisting that Nigerians must begin to enjoy better call quality, faster data services, and wider network coverage.

‎The Minister said telecom companies now have no excuse for poor performance, stressing that recent reforms and improved operating conditions have restored profitability within the sector.

‎According to Tijani, operators including MTN Nigeria, Airtel Nigeria, Globacom, and T2 now possess the resources needed to tackle lingering network failures and improve service delivery nationwide.

‎“It is now the responsibility of telecom operators such as MTN Nigeria, Airtel Nigeria, Globacom, and T2 to take all necessary steps to resolve network challenges and deliver the level of service Nigerians expect,” he declared.

‎The Minister explained that the telecom sector currently operates in a more transparent and market-driven environment capable of supporting infrastructure upgrades and operational improvements.

‎He further disclosed that the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has been fully empowered to independently monitor operators, enforce service standards, and sanction defaulting companies where necessary.

‎“We will continue to rely on the Commission’s periodic reports to track network performance, as well as feedback from Nigerians,” Tijani stated.

‎The Minister said Nigerians should begin to notice clear improvements in call quality, internet performance, and network coverage in the days and months ahead.

‎He warned that operators failing to meet expected standards could face regulatory actions from the NCC.

‎“Where operators deliver, it will be recognised. Where they do not, the Commission is expected to take appropriate regulatory action,” he added.

‎Tijani assured subscribers that the Federal Government remains committed to ensuring that Nigerians receive value for the services they pay for while driving reforms aimed at strengthening the country’s digital economy.
