Enugu State Police have arrested two suspects in connection with illegal drug dealing in Nkanu East Local Government Area
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, both arrests were made through separate intelligence-led operations carried out by operatives of the Surveillance Team under the Agbani Area Command.
In the first operation on May 21, 2026, officers raided a known criminal hideout at Umuiba Nara at around 6:25am and arrested Ani James, 35.
Upon questioning, he allegedly confessed to buying and selling illicit substances including “Loud,” “Colos” and other variants of Cannabis sativa.
Several sachets and wraps of the suspected drugs were recovered from him.
In a second operation on May 16, 2026, a 50-year-old man, Edeh Ikechukwu, was arrested at Isigwe Ugbawka, also in Nkanu East LGA.
Large quantities of suspected Cannabis sativa were found in his possession, and he allegedly confessed to being involved in the drug trade for the past five years.
Investigations into both cases are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court once the process is concluded.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustained intelligence-driven operations against drug syndicates and criminal elements across the state.
Residents have been urged to stay law-abiding and continue providing the police with useful and timely information.
