The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has ordered the reversal on the suspension placed on two teachers in the state over a viral video showing the deplorable state of their classroom.
The Ebonyi State Ministry of Education had suspended the two head teachers indefinitely over alleged gross misconduct, denial of the right to quality education, and sabotage of the State government’s efforts in education.A video showing the pupils in their school sitting on bare floor while receiving lessons from their teacher made the rounds on social media.
Following the backlash received from Nigerians, the state Ministry of Education ordered the suspension of the school head teachers and directed them o hand over all government properties in their possession.
In a press statement signed and released on Thursday, May 21, the Special Assistant to Gov Nwifuru on New Media, Leo Oketa, said the attention of the governor was dran to the video and the suspension of the teachers. He said the governor has directed the immediate lifting of the suspension, reiterating that his administration remains committed to the welfare of teachers, pupils, and the continuous improvement of learning conditions across schools in the state.
