I Nearly Died: After 4 Years in University, They Said My Name Is Not in the Register and My Admission Is Fake – Chika’s Ordeal Goes Viral

A heartbreaking story of wasted years and alleged fraud has gone viral after a young woman identified as Chika shared how she spent four years studying at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu, only to be told she was never officially admitted.

Chika said she applied to IMT through JAMB and was waiting for admission when her friends began receiving theirs. Desperate, she said she paid ₦150,000 to a man introduced to her by a friend who claimed he could “give admission.” The man, she said, was believed to be “legit.”

“I was so happy that day,” she wrote. “After having second thought about it, I paid. And we were given admission.”

She was assigned Mass Communication, matriculated with her course mates, attended lectures, and went through both ND and HND programs. Everything appeared normal until it was time to graduate.

“When it was time for me to graduate, they said they can’t find my name on the school register. Like, my name is not among those that they gave admission four years ago,” she said. “Everywhere first blurrr.”

It was then, she said, that the memory of the backdoor admission came flooding back. “I then flashed back to know what really happened… Because when I finished my JAMB, I put IMT, so I was waiting for admission. But still, they have not given me admission.”

According to her, the school told her she could not graduate and would need to rewrite JAMB again. The news was too much to bear. “I fainted again, when I woke up, I remembered all the wasted efforts, years and money I cried eeh, so I pick the little piece that remains inside me and went home.”

While her friends and course mates have graduated and are preparing for NYSC, Chika said she is left to start over.

Her post, tagged #munamosespage and shared widely on Facebook, has drawn thousands of reactions. Many expressed sympathy, while others warned against paying for “illegal admissions” and urged students to verify their admission status on JAMB CAPS and the school’s portal.

IMT Enugu has not publicly commented on the case as of the time of this report. The incident adds to ongoing concerns about fake admissions and the exploitation of desperate candidates by fraudsters who pose as school officials or agents.

For Chika, the lesson came too late. “I cried eeh,” she wrote. “So I pick the little piece that remains inside me and went home and….See More
