I Was Childish — Morris Monye Tenders Apology To Peter Obi, Obidient Movement

The previous Director of Mobilisation for the Obidient Movement, Morris Monye, has publicly apologized to the former presidential candidate Peter Obi and the movement’s members. This comes six months after he left his position and criticized the leadership of the organization, as reported by The Sun Nigeria.…....

On Thursday, Monye shared an open letter on his official X account, stating that the tone and message of his resignation letter from November 2025 were immature and fueled by personal frustration instead of legitimate complaints, according to Daily Post Nigeria.

He took full accountability for his actions. “In that letter, I let deep frustration and personal feelings affect my decision-making. I made comments that subtly and unnecessarily implicated Peter Obi, a person I still admire for his vision, honesty, and dedication to our country,” he stated, as mentioned in The Sun Nigeria.

In his letter, he directly addressed Obi, extending a heartfelt and complete apology. “Sir, I am truly sorry,” he expressed, recognizing that his comments at that time were unjust to a person he still respects greatly, despite their disagreements, according to Daily Post Nigeria.

Monye had stepped down from the Obidient Movement in November 2025 after the group’s disappointing results in the Anambra State governorship election. In his resignation, he claimed that Obi had overlooked the movement’s mobilization efforts, saying he had spent millions personally on nationwide campaigns without any financial backing from the leadership, as reported by Punch Nigeria.

He mentioned that the resignation letter came from what he now sees as a frustrating and immature moment and urged the Obidient community to forgive him for the way he expressed himself back then, according to Vanguard News.
