I Was Deceived, Thank God I Did Not Pay 50 Million Naira”—Shittu Blasts APC Over Oyo Primary Scandal

Dr. Adebayo Shittu, a former Minister of Communications, has strongly condemned the leadership of the All Progressives Congress over the handling of the party’s recent primary elections. The APC stalwart voiced concern over what he described as widespread irregularities, confusion, and manipulation that are threatening the unity of the ruling party in Oyo State.

Reacting to the controversies surrounding the primaries, Shittu explained that he narrowly avoided losing a huge amount of money because he was misled about the process.

“I was deceived and thank God I did not pay 50 million Naira only for another person to be anointed, because why would a party wait for people to pay before announcing an anointed candidate,” he stated.

The former minister, who is also a legal practitioner, disclosed that another politician convinced him to resign from his appointment at a federal university based on what later turned out to be a false presidential directive. Shittu warned that imposing candidates and failing to maintain transparency could negatively affect the APC’s chances in the next general elections. He stressed that party members who feel cheated during the primaries cannot be compelled to support the party during the main polls.

Speaking further, the APC chieftain announced that he is withdrawing from active politics to dedicate more time to Islamic Dawah and religious activities.

He also appealed to the national leadership of the party to carefully review all complaints arising from the primaries, correct the mistakes made, and ensure justice is served in order to restore peace within the party…See More
