Controversial social media activist and influencer, VeryDarkMan, has fired back at the Presidency following a statement by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga over an alleged leaked audio involving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Reacting via a video shared on his social media platforms, VeryDarkMan, popularly known as VDM, challenged the Presidency after Onanuga accused him of spreading a fake audio recording of President Tinubu.
Onanuga had written on X that VDM should “face the weight of the law” for allegedly disseminating false content online, describing the act as an abuse of social media platforms.
Responding to the accusation, VDM stated that he would never defend the authenticity of the leaked voice note if it eventually turns out to be fake, adding that “God should punish” him if he knowingly supported falsehood.
The activist, however, maintained that the government was only targeting him because he constantly speaks against the administration and criticizes what he described as the failures of Tinubu’s government.
“I will return to Nigeria as soon as possible. I want to see the law the Presidency wants to use against me,” he said.
VDM further alleged that some persons were being sponsored to falsely accuse him of supporting religious violence between Muslims and Christians in the country.
“All these plans they are doing are just ways to arrest VeryDarkMan,” he claimed.
The outspoken influencer also urged Nigerians to vote out President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, insisting that the current administration has failed to address insecurity and economic hardship in the country.
“There’s no month you won’t hear people were killed, no week without kidnapping,” he said while criticizing the state of security nationwide.
The development has since sparked heated reactions across social media, with supporters and critics divided over the Presidency’s response and VDM’s comments.
