According to a report by Daily Post on Monday, May 25, 2026, Ademola Adeleke has explained that his decision to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027 was influenced by moral responsibility and ongoing developmental projects benefiting the South-West region.

The governor stated that his endorsement was not driven solely by politics but by what he described as the need to appreciate leadership efforts that are positively affecting Osun State and neighbouring areas. His position was contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.

According to the statement, Adeleke made the remarks on Sunday during an inspection visit to the ongoing construction of the Ibadan–Ile Ife–Ilesa Expressway. During the visit, the governor commended Tinubu for supporting major infrastructure projects across Osun State and other parts of the South-West.

Adeleke noted that infrastructure development remains critical to economic growth and improved connectivity among communities. He explained that road projects such as the Ibadan–Ile Ife–Ilesa Expressway would enhance transportation, commercial activities, and broader economic development within the region.

The governor also stressed the importance of recognising leaders who support projects capable of improving the lives of residents. He said federal involvement in strategic infrastructure projects affecting Osun State deserves appreciation, especially because of the expected long-term benefits for businesses and travelers.

Adeleke further linked his support for Tinubu to the historical relationship between Osun State and the President, describing the connection as significant.
