Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has stated that t+rrorist activities in the country have reduced significantly, giving the nation’s current security efforts a score of about 65 to 70 percent.
He disclosed this during an interview on Arise Television on Friday, explaining that no country in the world is entirely free from crime and other criminal activities.
According to him, even though cases of t+rrorism and kidn@pping still happen, the situation has improved considerably when compared to previous years.
Musa attributed some of the security challenges to the breakdown of family values and poor societal orientation. He noted that many individuals involved in kidn@pping and similar crimes are motivated by the urge to acquire wealth quickly instead of working honestly.
He also suggested that certain criminal activities could have political motives, adding that such acts may be aimed at making the government appear incapable or creating fear and instability in the country.
Despite the difficulties, the Defence Minister emphasized that the military and other security agencies remain dedicated and are continuously working hard to tackle insecurity nationwide.
Quoting him, he said: “Yes, I’ll give ourselves 65 to 70 percent score. No nation is totally free from crime and criminality, but the level of te+rorism across the country has actually drastically reduced.”
He further stated that t+rrorism is a societal issue connected to weakening family values, mentioning troubling incidents where family members were allegedly involved in k+dn@pping.
