The statement was made by Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, during a television interview on Arise Television, while responding to recent incidents of abductions and killings in parts of the country, including the attack reported in Oyo State.…....

Bwala said the government is working to curb insecurity nationwide, stressing that tackling violence requires both state intervention and active participation from citizens through intelligence sharing and community vigilance.

He noted that while security agencies remain central to law enforcement, citizens also play a role in reporting suspicious activities and supporting local security structures such as vigilante groups operating in several states.

He further referenced constitutional provisions, arguing that self-defence is legally recognized when individuals are faced with immediate threats in their homes, although he emphasized that arms possession remains regulated under Nigerian law.

The remarks come amid growing public concern over repeated cases of kidnappings and attacks in different regions of the country.

The administration of President Bola Tinubu has continued to face pressure to intensify security responses as violent incidents persist in several states.

Bwala maintained that government efforts, combined with community cooperation, are key to restoring safety and ending insecurity in the country.
