According to a report by Nigerian Tribune on Sunday, May 17, 2026, celebrity entrepreneur and socialite Pascal Okechukwu, widely known as Cubana Chief Priest, has spoken out over reports suggesting he lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 elections.…....
The businessman reacted after stories circulated online claiming he suffered defeat during the party’s primary election. Addressing the issue, he clarified that he was never part of the contest because he had already withdrawn before the exercise began.
According to Cubana Chief Priest, his decision came after discussions with Hope Uzodimma concerning the political arrangement guiding the constituency. He explained that the governor informed him about the zoning understanding already in place and how it affected the race.
He revealed that he was told his local government area was not expected to produce the next representative under the current arrangement adopted within the constituency. Following that explanation, he said he accepted the political decision and decided not to continue with his ambition.
The socialite noted that after reaching that conclusion, he stayed away completely from the primary venue and later traveled back to Lagos without participating in any voting activity.
His statement was seen as an attempt to correct narratives circulating on social media that painted his exit as an electoral loss. He stressed that reports of him being defeated were inaccurate and failed to reflect what truly happened.
Cubana Chief Priest also explained that his original interest in contesting the seat came from concerns over representation in the constituency and his desire to see better leadership for the people.
Expressing displeasure over reactions online, he criticized individuals spreading what he called false narratives for publicity purposes. In his words, “It is therefore laughable that some misguided elements are attempting to use my name for unnecessary trending and online propaganda.”
