Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has tipped Paris Saint-Germain to retain the UEFA Champions League title when they face Arsenal in Saturday’s final in Budapest, Hungary.
Kane’s Bayern side were eliminated by PSG in the semi-finals after a 6-5 aggregate defeat, leaving the French club one win away from defending the trophy they won last season.
The England captain believes PSG’s status as reigning champions gives them an advantage heading into the final despite Arsenal’s strong campaign.
He told ESPN: “It is really even. PSG are obviously the reigning champions and that gives them an edge. But Arsenal have been incredible this season.”
Kane also admitted he was still undecided about watching the final following Bayern’s controversial exit.
He said: “Everyone who watched the game will have the same decision. How you give the handball last week and don’t give it this week, both are just crazy.”
The striker also questioned decisions made during the semi-final clash against PSG.
He said: “PSG should have had a clear second yellow card. He [the referee] changed his mind, maybe the atmosphere got to him.”
Despite backing PSG, Kane praised Arsenal and described the final as a clash between two dangerous sides with contrasting styles.
He told Sky Sports: “It’s two different styles playing against each other but I think it will be a really even test. Both teams have good qualities and can be dangerous.”
Kane added: “Two totally different teams in the way they play but two very strong teams. It will be an interesting final, for sure.”
PSG head into the final as defending champions, while Arsenal arrive after winning their first Premier League title in 22 years last week.
The North London side are chasing the first European Cup triumph in the club’s history.
