The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) leadership selection committee has confirmed the exit of some senior officials, following the expiration of their tenure as part of an ongoing transition within the Forum.

In a statement issued to journalists in Kaduna on Saturday, by Chairman of the ACF Leadership Selection Committee, Brigadier-General Haliru Akilu (rtd), the Committee said it had submitted recommendations to the Board of Trustees (BOT) after deliberations on the tenure status of affected officials.

The BOT had earlier, at its meeting of April 11, 2026, reaffirmed that under the ACF Constitution, members of the Board of Trustees serve a single tenure of six years, while National Executive Committee (NEC) members serve three years, renewable for another three years, Blueprint.ng reports.

Based on this constitutional provision, the tenure of the affected officials, who assumed office on 10th March, 2020, and completed their six-year tenure on 10th March, 2026, has expired.

Those affected include Senator F. Orti of Benue State, Deputy Chairman of the BOT; Ambassador Ibrahim Mai Sule of Yobe State, Vice Chairman of the BOT; Senator Ibrahim Ida, Wazirin Katsina, Deputy Chairman of the NEC; and Mallam Murtala Aliyu, Muttawallen Gombe, Secretary General.

The committee noted that the positions have now become vacant. It also stated that Mallam Murtala Aliyu has been directed to conclude his handover notes and other exit formalities on or before Friday, 15th May, 2026.

On the filling of the vacant positions, the committee explained that the database of potential candidates has been updated. However, it said the selection and appointment of new office holders for three of the positions have been postponed pending the conclusion of the ongoing review of the ACF Constitution.

In the interim, Mallam Bukar Zarma has been appointed acting secretary general to oversee the day-to-day administration of the Forum. His appointment will remain temporary until a substantive Secretary-General is appointed.

The committee said the transition process was part of efforts to strengthen governance structures and ensure continuity within the Forum.
