Media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Lere Olayinka, has reacted to reports that an elderly female aspirant emerged as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the FCT senatorial seat.
Olayinka made the remarks in a post shared on social media, where he appeared to mock activist and politician Aisha Yesufu, who had earlier indicated interest in contesting for the senatorial position under the NDC platform.

“Dem don carry FCT Senatorial ticket for NDC give one elderly woman wey donate her building to NDC for Secretariat,” Olayinka wrote.
He followed the statement with a humorous jab directed at Yesufu, saying:
“Dem don do AISHA YESUFU balabluuuuuu,” accompanied by laughing emojis.
The development comes after Yesufu had publicly spoken about her political ambitions and support for opposition movements ahead of the 2027 elections.
The reported outcome of the FCT senatorial process has generated reactions online, with supporters and critics expressing different views over the party’s internal arrangements and candidate selection process.
