Billionaire Mark Cuban is facing social media backlash over his recent appearance with President Donald Trump.
Cuban, who has previously criticized Trump and backed former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, joined the president Monday for a healthcare event. Now, critics are calling him out.
“He should have walked off. That said it’s not easy to do that. Just would have been nice,” former Republican congressman Adam Kinzinger posted on X.
“Remember when people thought Mark Cuban was one of the ‘good’ billionaires? Nope,” another X user said.
“What a shame @mcuban,” a third added.
The Independent has requested comment from Cuban.
Cuban appeared to address these critics in a since-deleted social media post, which was seen by multiple media outlets, including Forbes and Mediaite.
“If anyone thinks I’m going to put politics ahead of helping Americans reduce their cost of healthcare and pharmaceuticals, they are a f****** idiot,” Cuban wrote. “Tell me one person who thinks that healthcare economics are well run in this country.”
“It’s the biggest affordability issue, and, the greatest fear of most families is that they won’t be able to afford a significant healthcare or medication cost. The goal is the goal. And that goal is to change healthcare. I’ve been saying it for years and will continue to work on this,” he added.
Cuban later explained why he removed the post, writing, “Deleted the last post because I decided cursing didn’t make my point. It hurt it. And I rarely care about cursing.”
The billionaire appeared alongside the president and other administration officials Monday as they announced the prescription drug site TrumpRx will now include more than 600 generic medications. The site is also partnering with companies including Amazon Pharmacy, GoodRx and Cost Plus Drugs, which Cuban co-founded, to provide discounts.
“I think other than you, I’ve been the biggest proponent of TrumpRx,” Cuban said at the event.
“The reason for that is Republicans want cheaper drugs, independents want cheaper drugs, Democrats want cheaper drugs, and together I think we’re going to do something special,” he added.
At one point, Trump joked that Cuban made a “big mistake” when he endorsed Harris. After the event, a reporter asked Cuban whether he regretted supporting Harris in 2024. He replied: “I’m not going into my politics at all.”
At Politico’s Health Care Summit last month, Cuban also responded “no” when asked whether he wants Harris to run for president again.
“I’m trying to change how f***** up this health care industry is right now, and that’s all I care about,” he said at the April event.
