Girls Tag, described as an all-in-one menstrual care package created for girls aged nine and above, recently launched with Mercy Johnson and her daughter, Purity Okojie, serving as ambassadors for the brand.
The unveiling quickly generated mixed reactions on social media, with many users debating the product’s reported price and accessibility for young girls and families.
Shortly after the launch event, Regina Daniels was also announced as one of the ambassadors representing the brand.
However the launch of the product has sparked backlash on social media, with critics describing the price as unrealistic and insensitive, especially as millions of Nigerian women and girls struggle to afford basic menstrual products, often resorting to unsafe alternatives or missing school during their periods.
Lady said; “Mercy, you’re an embarrassment of a woman. In a country where women are struggling to get sanitary pads, you want to charge ₦25,000 for a sanitary pad kit?”
