A businessman identified as Abibu Yakubu has taken his ex-wife to court at the Upper Area Court 1 in Karu, alleging that she has refused to vacate his home following their divorce.
He is also seeking to be granted custody of their four children.
The petition was filed on October 13, 2025, against his estranged wife, Shuwadatu Mohammed, with both parties currently residing at the same address in Orange Market, Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area.
In his claims, Yakubu alleged that his ex-wife shows no respect toward him or his parents and frequently subjects them to verbal abuse.
He stated that the marriage produced four children, aged 22, 19, and a set of six-year-old twins.
According to Yakubu, the divorce took place approximately five years ago, but despite this, his ex-wife has consistently refused to leave his property.
He alleged that she threatened to remain in the house until she had harmed him, and that her continued presence and threats have left him so fearful that he is unable to sleep peacefully.
He appealed to the court to hold the respondent accountable should any harm come to him, and also requested a formal re-dissolution of the marriage in addition to full custody of the children.
After hearing the matter, presiding Judge Mohammed Yakubu adjourned the case to June 3 for further proceedings.
