President William Ruto gifted a nine-month-old baby KSh500,000, leaving her family overwhelmed with joy and gratitude.

The President met the little girl and her mother on May 25 when he visited the Mvita area of Mombasa County during his development tour.

He was headed to lay the foundation stone for the Makupa Modern Market and the Affordable Housing Project when he met Maryam Muhiddin, who was among the crowd that followed the Head of State on foot.

Ruto stopped, took the baby from her mother’s arms, held her, and gently lifted her before returning her to the delighted woman.

Why did William Ruto gift baby KSh 500k?

While handing over the KSh500,000, he directed that KSh300,000 be used for business investment to improve the family’s livelihood, while KSh200,000 be saved for the child’s education.

Sharing her joy after receiving the money, the Maryam explained why she attended the President’s rally with her toddler, noting that she never imagined he would notice her.

“That day I decided to go and see President Ruto, and I was very happy. I did not expect that he would come close to me and even see my child. Even now, I still cannot believe that I actually met the President face to face. I was so happy. Today, I am even more grateful that he remembered me and also remembered my child. I truly thank him,” said the young mother.

Mombasa Woman Representative Zamzam Mohamed, who handed over the money to the family on behalf of the President, stated that Maryam is a single mother who has been struggling to make ends meet.

She explained that the mother of one attended the President’s rally hoping to receive a small handout to buy milk for her daughter, but fate had other plans.

“But there, God worked miracles through our President. The President even looked for me later that night and told me, ‘Mama Zamzam, find that mother and that child, that beautiful angel, find them until you get them,’” shared Zamzam.
