Nollywood actress Shine Rosman has stated that the widely held belief that Nigerian movie stars are extremely wealthy is misleading.
Speaking during a recent podcast interview hosted by her colleague Baaj Adebule, Rosman addressed what she described as one of the biggest misconceptions about the film industry. According to her, many people assume that Nollywood actors live very comfortable and luxurious lifestyles simply because of their screen presence.
However, she explained that this is often far from the reality. Rosman noted that a significant number of actors in the industry actually face financial challenges and are not as well-off as the public tends to believe.
She further added that those Nollywood stars who appear financially stable or successful usually do not rely solely on acting for income. Instead, many of them generate additional earnings through other business ventures and side investments outside the movie industry.
Her comments highlight the gap between public perception and the real financial situation of many professionals in Nollywood.
Rosman said, “The most overrated misconception about Nollywood stars is that we have money. I don’t know why people assume we have money. Some of us do have money, but from other ventures. But many of us are struggling financially.”
