MTN Foundation launches 6th Phase of ‘What Can We Do Together’

The MTN Foundation has announced the commencement of the 2026 cycle for the 6th Phase of its “What Can We Do Together (WCWDT)” initiative, a community-driven partnership designed to bridge critical infrastructure gaps.

Through this nationwide call for nominations, the Foundation is inviting Nigerians to participate in the selection of 40 Public Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) and 15 Public Secondary School Science Laboratories for comprehensive upgrades and equipment installation, reinforcing its commitment to shared responsibility and social progress.

Endorsing the initiative, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Hon. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, described the programme as “a development model that works”, noting that “the gap between Nigeria’s potential and its reality can be narrowed through deliberate collaboration”.

He emphasised the integrity of the process, stating: “What is important is not just the scale, but the nature of these interventions.

“They are identified by communities, owned by communities, and delivered transparently.”

Etim Amana, Director of the MTN Foundation, said the initiative is built on partnership and collective progress.

Amana said: “The life we live is not just about us. It’s about service, accountability, and collaboration.

“This programme is built around people and communities, and how we can work together to improve lives.”

Speaking during the launch, Odunayo Sanya, Executive Director of the MTN Foundation, said the initiative will support science education and open up opportunities for students.

Sanya said: “In education, we are supporting the next generation of scientists, engineers, and doctors by giving them access to laboratories where they can learn through practice and imagination.

“We’re also opening nominations for communities and schools to benefit from these interventions, and encourage all Nigerians to take part in the process.”

WCWDT is a collaborative platform designed to address identified service delivery gaps in critical social sectors through inclusive, community-driven partnerships.

Since its inception, it has demonstrated strong delivery capacity, with over ₦4 billion invested in social infrastructure interventions.

The Foundation has successfully delivered upgrades to 181 PHCs and over 110 science laboratories nationwide.

These past interventions have reached 623 communities across 32 states and spanned over 517 Local Government Areas.

For the 2026 programme year, healthcare interventions will focus on enhancing the functionality, service readiness, and patient experience of maternal wards in selected PHCs.

The Foundation is committed to ensuring that each state and the FCT will benefit from at least one PHC intervention.

Furthermore, the initiative will renovate and equip 15 functional science laboratories to improve hands-on science learning and STEM outcomes, selecting at least two secondary schools from each geo-political zone.

The call for nominations runs from May 5 to June 8, 2026.

Nigerians can submit their nominations via a digital platform at www.mtn.ng/wcwdt.

Additionally, MTN customers can nominate via SMS by sending “MTN” to the short code 421.
