Mystery as Bungoma deputy principal collapses, dies in hotel room during night out with woman

Police in Bungoma County have launched investigations into the mysterious death of a deputy principal who collapsed inside a hotel room shortly after checking in with a woman following a night out in Webuye town.

The deceased, identified as Caleb Wekesa Nakhisa, served as the deputy principal at St Cecilia Misikhu Girls Secondary School in Webuye Constituency. He was pronounced dead in the early hours of Saturday, May 24, after being rushed to hospital.

According to a police report filed at Webuye Police Station under OB No. 02/24/05/2026, detectives are treating the incident as a suspected murder case.

Investigators said the teacher spent the evening of May 23 in the company of a 28-year-old woman at several entertainment spots within Webuye town. The woman reportedly told police that they first met at SK Club at around 8pm, where they shared drinks with friends before later proceeding to Thumbs Club.

The pair allegedly left the club at around 11pm and checked into the Satellite Hotel for the night.

Police reports indicate that at about 12.20am, Nakhisa suddenly complained of feeling unwell while inside the hotel room. The woman is said to have alerted hotel management after noticing his condition deteriorating.

Hotel workers reportedly found the deputy principal foaming at the mouth before rushing him to Calvary Hospital in Webuye. He was later referred to Webuye Sub-County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead roughly 10 minutes after arrival.

Officers from Matulo Police Post, alongside detectives from the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Office visited the scene and documented evidence as investigations continue.

The woman was taken into custody to assist police with ongoing investigations into the incident.
